Big Sky Resort Officially Opens 2015-16 Ski and Snowboard Season!

Happy Thanksgiving Day y'all!  Hundreds of skiers and boarders at Big Sky were extra thankful today:

Big Sky Resort officially opened today for the 2015-2016 ski season making many skiers and snowboarders thankful to be hitting the slopes again. The Resort opened four chair lifts, four surface lifts, and over ten features with two jumps in the Swifty 2.0 terrain park at 9:00 am.

Happy Thanksgiving: 11 Things I Am Thankful for

Happy Thanksgiving 2015!

In designing your awesome lifestyle, it is extremely important to live through gratitude - and to be thankful for what you have (and I'm not just talking possessions).  Personally, I attempt to live with gratitude every day.  Even when working in some strange city where I know nobody, I very often (daily) tell people that "I am doing GREAT!  Every day I wake up is a GREAT day."

The title of this post was going to be 10 Things I Am Thankful For, but since I "Live Large and In Charge", I do things a bit better, so I'm making it 11 Things I Am Thankful For.  This list is not all-inclusive, is not in any particular order - and really not just 'things' or possessions.

1.  Freedom to Choose.  I am very thankful for the freedom

Whistler and Mount Baker Both Getting Set to Kick Off Season Early - What Other NW Ski Areas Will Be Next

Whistler Blackcomb in British Columbia raised some eyebrows last week when they announced they were opening Whistler mountain tomorrow November 19th - a full week ahead of schedule.  According to their site, they have a base of 30" at mid-mountain - and they will be having mandatory downloading tomorrow (meaning that the bottom will not be open).  We're excited to get up there and help them celebrate their 50th season this year!

Mount Baker in Washington state is also getting ready to open tomorrow - but they've been a bit more cautious with their optimism.  They didn't actually announce it for sure until this morning.  They say they made it through the warm front - and it's once again snowing with a 37 inch base at Heather Meadows and over 60" at the top of Pan Dome.

Apparently during last night's storm there was some damage to Highway 542, which will add some traffic delays.  Kind of super-psyched up to get this winter started - may just have to drive up there anyway ...

But then again, Crystal Mountain says they may be opening on Friday ...

Whistler Mountain will be opening one week ahead of schedule on Thursday, November 19. The early opening has been made possible thanks to favourable early season conditions, including natural snowfall and prime temperatures for snowmaking. Blackcomb Mountain will open as scheduled on November 26.
