Heavy Snow? The Ritz-Carlton, Lake Tahoe Gears Up for the Winter Season

This winter season, The Ritz-Carlton, Lake Tahoe, located mid-mountain at Northstar California Resort, will remain the top destination for the ultimate relaxed California luxury winter experience.  With meteorologists talking about a powerful “El Niño,” The Ritz-Carlton, Lake Tahoe will serve as the perfect host destination to make the most of this seasons’ skiing and snowboarding. The resort is ready to welcome winter travelers to the North Lake Tahoe region to experience the myriad of winter activities on offer.

“We are optimistic about the great ski season ahead, and we are looking forward to welcoming all those eager winter enthusiasts to our picturesque destination” said Joseph Mattioli, general manager of The Ritz-Carlton, Lake Tahoe. “The experiences offered by The Ritz-Carlton, Lake Tahoe throughout the season are a great compliment to the winter recreational activities offered by Northstar California Resort, which offers the finest terrain, conditions and guest services in the Lake Tahoe region.”
At The Ritz-Carlton, Lake Tahoe, avid skiers and snowboarders can enjoy ski-in/ski-out access to close-by Northstar California Resort and can visit The Village at Northstar via the hotel’s intermountain gondola.  With a slope-side location on Northstar’s “Big Easy” run, the ski-in/ski-out access is enjoyed by skiers and riders of any level.  Northstar includes more than 3,100 acres of beginner to advanced ski and snowboard terrain, a world-class ski and snowboard school for children and adults, and access to the only Burton Snowboard Academy in the United States. Though meteorologist tell us there is no need, Northstar California Resort boasts North Lake Tahoe’s largest and most powerful snowmaking system, providing the best possible snow surface conditions and mountain experience for guests. Identified as a benefit to the state’s water system, snowmaking is an essential part of mountain resort operations.
The Ritz-Carlton, Lake Tahoe is home to True North, the on-site ski retail and rental shop featuring premier brands of men's and women's ski and fashion apparel, top performance skis and boots, footwear, extensive eye wear, and accessories for outdoor recreation and relaxation.  The resort also features personal mountain concierge services including slope-side equipment storage, boot fittings, and escorts to lifts.  Complimentary transportation between the resort and the nearby Village at Northstar, which centers around a 9,000 square foot ice-rink with numerous restaurants, bars and shops, is also available.
Additional local winter activities include snowshoe star tours, cross-country skiing, ice skating, snowmobile tours, tubing and sledding, and dog sled tours.  Guests can also relax by a cozy fire at the nearby Village at Northstar or at the resort’s outdoor fire pit, which hosts the adored program, Marshmology.  Visitors gather at the resort fire pit and are welcomed by the Marshmologist – the expert on “the s’more” – who leads guests in the craft of s’more-making. Guests and their families receive instruction and guidance about the artful technique of roasting the perfect marshmallow while learning the history of the s’more.  In addition to s’mores, a menu of hot chocolate and other beverages are available for purchase.  Art of the S’more experience is offered complimentary to resort guests and will be offered daily in the evening year-round (weather permitting).
While enjoying the winter season in Lake Tahoe, guests can also escape to The Ritz-Carlton Spa, Lake Tahoe, a 17,000 square foot facility featuring seven luxurious treatment rooms, a fitness center with state-of-the-art cardiovascular and weight-training equipment, a fully integrated wellness program including a variety of fitness classes, and a heated co-ed spa lap pool overlooking the slopes.  The Ritz-Carlton Spa, Lake Tahoe is a forest sanctuary and an oasis for pampering the senses.  Spa-goers will be awakened by the traditional treatments and enjoy their time in the spa, which is a perfect setting for high-altitude restoration and relaxation – especially after a long day on the nearby slopes.
Guests can also visit the authentic, charming mountain town of Truckee, which is less than 10 miles from the resort.  Activities include a walking tour to learn about the historic railroad town’s past, shop for one-of-a-kind gifts and souvenirs, dine at several locally owner eateries, enjoy live music at one of Truckee’s local watering hole, or wander through the art galleries featuring both local and internationally known artists’ works.
